On behalf of the board of elders, church officers, and congregants of the Ft. Lauderdale Seventh-day Adventist Church, I would like to officially welcome you to our website. More importantly, you are invited to attend our church.
We have members from various ethnic backgrounds, and herein lies our strength. We believe in putting love into action. We do this not only for our church members but for the community we were called to serve. With that in mind, every Tuesday, we distribute food to over 150 needy people. Each person is given three bags of wholesome food, for free. We provide many other felt needs for the residents. All that we do, and all that we have, is for you. Yes, you!
For the past 19 years our church has made an indelible impact on Broward County by sponsoring the “Healthy Lifestyle-Longer Life” Health Event. This health initiative is co-sponsored by leading health agencies such as: Broward County Health Department, Broward Health (formerly North Broward Hospital District), and Memorial Health System. This Health Event attracts over 1000 people and is held annually, on the grounds of our church, on the first Sunday of November. In fact, the entire weekend is devoted to vibrant health.
Evangelistic events, Outreach, Youth events, Family enrichment programs, and many others, are offered throughout the year.
Additionally, we provide Adventist Christian education (K-8) via our school (Sawgrass Adventist School), which was launched by our church in the 1930s. You can find an online link for our school under "Ministries" then "Sawgrass Adventist School".
Whether you’re a resident or visitor, we would love to worship with you. Do let us know when you are coming so we can show you why Fort Lauderdale City Church is renowned for its welcome.
Our weekly schedule can be found under the "contact us" tab listed above. Hope to see you soon. God bless!
Yours in His Service,
Jeffrey K. Thompson, PhD
Pastor
The Seventh-day Adventist Church is a mainstream Protestant church with approximately 19 million members worldwide, including more than one million members in North America. The Seventh-day Adventist Church seeks to enhance quality of life for people everywhere and to let people know that Jesus is coming again soon.
Adventists believe a Trinity of three persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—make up one God. They made salvation possible when Jesus, the Son, came to earth as a baby in Bethlehem and lived a sinless life in accordance with the Father's will. When Jesus was crucified for the sins of the people of the world and arose from the dead on the third day, victory was won for everyone.
When He returned to heaven following the resurrection, Jesus left the Holy Spirit to serve as our Comforter and Counselor. He promised to return to earth a second time to complete His plan of salvation and take His people to heaven. Adventists are among the believers who look forward to that day.
Adventists believe that God is concerned with the quality of human life, and that everything—the way we live, eat, speak, think, treat each other, and care for the world around us—is part of His plan. Our families, our children, our jobs, our talents, our money, and our time are all important to Him.
